The Human vertebral column 2015-08-19
The Human vertebral column
The human vertebral column is the backboneorspine, consisting of twenty-four articulating vertebrae, and nine fused vertebrae in the sacrumand the coccyx. The vertebrae in the column are separated from each other by intervertebral discs. It houses and protects the spinal cordin its spinal canal. There are normally thirty-three vertebrae; the upper twenty-four are articulating and separated from each other by intervertebral discs, and the lower nine are fused, five in the sacrumand four in the coccyxortailbone. The articulating vertebrae are named according to their region of the spine. There are seven cervical vertebrae, twelve thoracic vertebraeand five lumbar vertebrae. The number of vertebrae in a region can vary but overall the number remains the same. The number of those in the cervical region however is only rarely changed. Structural support for the body, allowing us to stand upright. The spine supports about half the weight of the body.

Inflatable space station from moon to mars.
The upcoming launch of a private inflatable module toward the International Space Station could help pave the way for colonies on the moon and Mars. Bigelow Aerospace's Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM) will blast off on SpaceX's next robotic cargo mission to the space station for NASA. That flight was originally scheduled for September, but the disintegration of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocketduring the company's last cargo run in late June will likely delay it. Whenever BEAM ends up reaching orbit, the module's addition to the International Space Station(ISS) will be a big milestone for inflatable spacecraft in general and Bigelow Aerospace in particular, company representatives said. [ Bigelow's Inflatable Space Station Idea in Photos] "This will give us the opportunity to demonstrate expandable-habitat technology as part of a crewed system for the very first time," said Michael Gold, director of Washington, D.C., operations and business growth for Bigelow Aerospace. "This will be a very big step.
Discovering the first true "alien Earth" is a long-held dream of astronomers — 6 Earth like planet. ‪ 2015-08-19
Discovering the first true
Discovering the first true "alien Earth" is a long-held dream of astronomers — and recent exoplanet discoveries suggest that their dream will come true in the not-too-distant future. Scientists have found nearly 2,000 alien planets since the first such world was confirmed orbiting a sunlike star in 1995. More than half of these discoveries were made by NASA's Kepler space telescope, which launched in 2009 on a mission to determine how common Earth-like planets are throughout the Milky Way galaxy. Kepler's observations have shown that small, rocky worlds like our own are abundant in the galaxy, and some of them may be capable of hosting life as we know it. [ ‪10 Exoplanets That Could Host Alien Life] To qualify as potentially life-friendly, a planet must be relatively small (and therefore rocky) and orbit in the "habitable zone" of its star, which is loosely defined as a location where water can exist in liquid form on a world's surface. When telescope technology improves, other factors will be considered as well as the atmospher of planet.
Amazing facts about Africa 2015-08-19
Amazing facts about Africa
Africa is the most populous and the only black continent. Despite the delayed development in the continent, Africa is an interesting continent to visit and in it abounds lots of talents. There are lots of known and interesting information but there are much more *Africais the second largest continent in the world. The second largest in both land mass and population. It covers about a fifth of the earth’s total land area. The land mass is about 30.2 million km² (11.7 million sq mi) and this includes adjacent islands, it covers six percent of the Earth’s total surface area. * All of Africa was colonized by foreign powers during the “scramble for Africa”, except Ethiopia and Liberia. *There are 54 countries and one “non-self governing territory”, the Western Sahara, in Africa.* Arabic is spoken by 170 million people on the continent, followed in popularity by English (130 million), Swahili (100), French (115), Berber (50), Hausa (50), Portuguese (20) and Spanish (10).
Teeth 2015-08-19
Teeth
A tooth(plural teeth) is a small, calcified, whitish structure found in the jaws(or mouths) of many vertebratesand used to break down food. Some animals, particularly carnivores, also use teeth for hunting or for defensive purposes. The roots of teeth are covered by gums. Teeth are not made of bone, but rather of multiple tissues of varying density and hardness. The cellular tissues that ultimately become teeth originate from the embryonic germ layer, the ectoderm. The general structure of teeth is similar across the vertebrates, although there is considerable variation in their form and position. The teeth of mammalshave deep roots, and this pattern is also found in some fish, and in crocodilians. In most teleostfish, however, the teeth are attached to the outer surface of the bone, while in lizardsthey are attached to the inner surface of the jaw by one side. In cartilaginous fish, such as sharks, the teeth are attached by tough ligamentsto the hoops of cartilagethat form the jaw.
