Direct and Indirect Speech

Direct and indirect speech. These are two ways to communicate the message of a person, or the words spoken by a person to another person.

Direct speech is when you quote exactly what the other person said.

Indirect speech is when you report what they said from your own perspective. Examples:

Direct speech: ”I like it”
Indirect speech: He said he liked it.
